Thanksgiving in Midtown

I will never hesitate saying "yes" when my neighbor asks me to check in on her cat Oliver...this is the sunset from her living room. I can think of worse things than sitting on someone's sofa, flipping through her magazines while her cat is purring in my lap, eating her ice cream and watching her DVD's.

Thanksgiving was terrific...drinking, home projects, eating, and getting ready for Christmas...and drinking.

Turkey dinner at my brother's mother-in-law's house was very nice and packed with funny, family moments; Nephew B walked up to one of the cousin-in-laws, who has a bit of a tummy, and asked "where did you get that belly?"

Holy moly! Christmas is coming!

Some very nice folks have been asking when I was going to get my new Xmas Cards out; since my "real" job has me out of town most of December (and January and February...bleh), I had to get on the ball!

Some of these will be available individually at my faithful and supportive retailers, YES and Twelve/Spire. I offer them directly for $20 a dozen. I'm thinking pick a series and you get 3 each (or mix and match, what the heck!).

We can dig into last year's stock, too, if you had any favorites.

After my drubbing of 80's scifi, I then went back and looked up some of the 70's fare.

Happy Halloween!

S and I had a terrific Halloween weekend! Our costumes were supposed to be "Really Mad Max" and a jewish cop as a take on Mel Gibson and his anti-semitic arrest, but we just left it at 2/5 of the Village People.

Only the straight guys knew I was "Mad Max".

We had fun staging these pics at "Attention Deficit David's" house, who went all out to decorate...black lights, decapitated dolls, "blood" on the walls and the floor, black cloth draped over everything.

Later, at the "As Seen in a Magazine" party, we decided that the perfect couple costume would have been the two of us in matching blonde wigs, big sunglasses, and slinky dresses. With me being 6'3" and S at 5'6", we would have been Nicole Ritchie...before and after. (Bless her heart).

We had a terrific time at the party, but S said it was time to go when I confronted this vapid, drunken chick, who just kept blathering on around me all night long.

"I was wondering...did you come to the party dressed as a drunken b&%$h, or did you change when you got here?"

She didn't hang around me after that.

Oregon - Canyon

We had 3 perfect days this past weekend, with Jazz Night at the High Museum Friday, the Decatur Beer Festival, Little 5 Points Halloween Parade with Omar, a whirlwind visit from Jimmy from Iowa, and porch-sitting at Kyle's on Colquitt on Saturday, then lattes, pizza, bookstore, L5P Halloween shopping, birthday chili with friends, and "Desperate-for-ratings Housewives" with more friends on Sunday...

...all of which I loved...none of which I photographed.

We do have these lovely pics of the early sun coming up over the lip of the Columbia Gorge and down into the deep, deep forest as we hiked up Willamette Creek back during our trip to Oregon.
