MOVIE NEWS - New movies out this Friday include "Death Race" (with Jason Statham and Joan-what-the-hell-am-I-doing-in-this-movie-Allen) and "The House Bunny".
I assume the former will be one long car chase, being a remaking/re-imagining/re-hashing of 1975's "Death Race 2000", starring David Carradine (same year as "Kung Fu" and 28 years before "Kill Bill") and Sylvester Stallone (5 years after "Party at Kitty and Stud's" and 1 year before "Rocky").
I assume the latter will have boobs.
ART NEWS - One of the reasons I was in NYC 2 weeks ago was to visit with friends from Beaverton High School ("Go Bucky Beaver!") and to get a sneak peek at Jill's teaser trailer (it got her a grant to complete the 2 hour documentary about love in New York). Great job, Jill! Watch it here --> -I Heart New York-
Friday, 8/22, Ferst Center - John McLaughlin sings his little heart out...you know, the guy singing at the ball at the end of "Enchanted"? Okay...the super hot guy! -ferst center- -john-
LOCAL NEWS - Atlanta is/was/can't put a streetcar system on Peachtree. Here's an article on how popular they are becoming (everywhere but Atlanta). -nyt-
The Atlanta City Council met this Monday to talk about whether events should be allowed back in Piedmont Park. Hmmmmmmmmmmm...how about "Hey, Mary Norwood! Did you want us to allow you to be mayor? And you can't figure out if we need to make the Dogwood Festival happen in our park? Get a (different) job!"
Saturday, 8/22, Woodruff Park "German Bier Fest" - $30 Advance tickets get you beer samples from 30 different German breweries. I still prefer the under $10 Sweetwater Brewery tour - Think Global, Drink Local!
U.S. NEWS - Being green isn't easy...we try our best by biking to our plot in the community garden, which in turn has provided us with gazpacho, salsa, ratatouille, pesto, and tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes. It's tougher in NYC.
Phelps is the man, the 8th wonder of the world. How popular is this guy right now? Obam-bam and McSame must be delaying announcing the selection of their running mate, because they are fighting over Michael!
Gas prices are down, but possibly not for long! Shell Oil has evacuated hundreds of its Gulf employees in advance of Tropical Storm Fay, which could be a hurricane by the time it reaches the U.S. Anyone in the South remember post-Katrina gas runs?
FRENCH NEWS -Taking the lead on brokering a peace agreement in (the other) Georgia. Hmmm, couldn't have anything to do with the giant-assed, european supplying gas line running through the middle of the embattled region, could it? -le monde-
WEB NEWS - This guy is funding state representative in Kansas with...internet cartoons. -npr- -Running for Office: It's Like A Flamewar with a Forum Troll, but with an Eventual Winner-
